ASCE-IGS STUDENT POSTER COMPETITION

Mahindra École Centrale (MEC), Hyderabad is conducting a poster competition as part of the ASCE-IGS student events. The poster competition consists of a visual display of projects/research findings/innovative ideas in the domain of civil engineering, combined with an interactive session with the panel of experts. This year the poster competition is being held on 31st August alongside the national conference, FACE- 2019. Participants of the poster competition must submit the soft copy of the poster by email on or before 20th August, 2019 and selected posters will be announced on 22nd August, 2019. Participants of the selected posters need to be registered by 26th August by paying the registration amount of INR 2000 per team. The registration fees includes access to conference sessions, registration kit, certificate, tea and lunch.

Competition Rules

  • Participants will print the posters only in the format provided by the Student Chapter. A poster team can comprise a maximum of three students.
  • Participants must bring their posters to the event and remain with their posters for the duration of the poster viewing session, as indicated in the technical program of the event.
  • Before and after the completion of judging, the posters of all competitors will be displayed in the foyer/lobby for the attendees of the FACE2019 conference to view.
  • Participants are responsible for disassembly and removal of the poster following the viewing session.
  • The organizers will supply each team with a white 40”x60” foam core poster board, easel, and mounting materials such as tape or push pins.
  • All illustrations and text must be readable from a distance of 3 feet.
  • Participants will be given a ten-minute window to showcase their projects with the judges. Judging sessions will consist of a five-minute presentation given by the competitor plus a five-minute question- and-answer period.

The poster can include the following

  • Title
  • Names of author(s) and affiliated organization(s)
  • Abstract (summary of the idea)
  • Background Information
  • Project Objectives
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results (tables, graphs, charts)
  • Conclusions
  • Discussion of possible future directions

PRIZES

First and second ranked posters will be awarded a cash prize of 10,000 and 5,000 INR
